Servant Leadership
Every day I read most or all of the posts in the forum; but although there are many affiliates who do their utmost to make the forum as informative as it is, it is my opinion that much more could be done to encourage more affiliates to participate in order to put in action the information given out in the forum community.
In light of my background, I would only want to address information that promotes growth. Today I choose Servant - Leadership. This derives from a great obsession to be of service to others rather than command others. We need to be a servant to our prospective followers, full and effectively do our utmost to meet their needs.
As a servant-leader we are servant first. Then a conscious choice brings us to aspire to lead. Those whom we serve will grow healthier and wiser, and are more likely to become servants themselves.
The following characteristics define us as servant-leaders:
Listening--- a rigorous intent that pays full attention to the person speaking.
Empathy---identifying with the issues of others with sensitivity and objectivity.
Healing--- being able to heal oneself and others of broken spirits and emotional hurts.
Awareness---alert, alive and awake to what’s happening in the SFI community and the internet environment.
Persuasion---seeks to convince others rather than coerce compliance.
Conceptualization ---seeing the larger picture and dreaming big dreams.
Foresight--- foreseeing likely outcomes.
Stewardship---understanding that you hold in trust for others.
Commitment---determination to support all persons within your sphere of influence to grow, and be the best that they can be.
Building community---works at building and nurturing the SFI community.
We can attain this new creation that we all want to be. The fact that we can see the possibility of transforming our life means that we have the answers to make it work. The setback is to achieve a new possibility, we have to do some things differently.
We may have to exert more effort and energy than you have done in the past. Most people do not rise to the challenge of transcending their comfort zone. That new creation as a servant- leader is quite possible. Go for it!
